Tahoe Boarding

In search of some actual snow, we jetted off to the Lake Tahoe, on the California / Nevada border. We stayed in a Casino hotel, which was cheap and had the benefit of convenient 24 hr access to gambling. In a week, we boarded two days at each of Kirkwood, Heavenly and Squaw.


The mountains were bigger than our local Vermont spots, but were suffering from the same late start to the season, and could have done with more snow. Motts Canyon at Heavenly, and the Kirkwood gullys were the definite highlight, along with Max's terrain park at Squaw.

Move of the week has to be Cheryl's 'slide' at Motts Canyon.

On our return to Vermont, we found that we'd had more than a foot of snow in our absence, so or trip ended just in time for VT snow action at Stowe!

Where's the snow?

The snow has been depressingly absent in Vermont. Yesterday temperatures reached summer levels 62 degrees..phew. It has meant the rivers have been flowing and Si has managed to bag some early spring boating days!! Its still too cold for Cheryl : (

Cheryl finished work in early Dec and now is a unhappy snowbunny..prey for snow soon. Over the Winter months Cheryl has volunteered for a Adaptive sports program. Two to Three days a week she will be coaching people with disabilities snowboarding, and adaptive skiing.

On a final note we have given up hope in VT and on Friday fly out West for some real snow..

Meet Astro, the newest recruit to our trip. Astro was born in 1997 and we adopted her over Christmas. Over the next few months she will be converted to the Ultimate Paddling Wagon. Astro will accompany and home us for our 6 month leg around America and Canada.

Welcome to our blog!!

We are still living in VT, making preparations for our trip which will commence April 07. Itinerary will be posted shortly.

We plan to post all our adventures, Mishaps and whatever else we get ourselves into.
